Best Fresh Strawberry Pie Ever

This recipe has been a family favorite for decades.  Every time I make this recipe no one refuses my invitation for dinner.  This pie could be made the day before an event to give it time to set up.  It takes about 4 hours to set up.  It is so worth the wait.  There is nothing better than fresh strawberries on cream cheese and whipped cream.  This pie preserves the taste and  integrity of the fresh strawberries.  If you love strawberries your mouth will water at the sight of this desert .

Fresh Strawberry Pie

Ingredients:

  • Graham Cracker Crust     You can buy a pre made crust from the grocery store or make your own.  Home made is so much better.  Here is a recipe for a crust that you might like.     1 1/4 cup of graham cracker crumbs   3 Tablespoons of sugar      1 cube of butter (1/2 cup)  3/4 cup of crushed walnuts.  Mix together, Press into a 9 inch pie pan, bake in oven at 350 for 8 minutes.   It would help to spray the pie plate lightly with oil before pressing the mixture into the pie pan.  It is a little easier to remove the slices of pie from the pie plate. Cool pie plate before putting in the ingredients.
  • 1  package of Strawberry Danish Desert
  • 1  1/2 cup water
  • 1  cup whipping cream  (unwhipped)
  • 1  8 oz package of original cream cheese
  • 1/2  cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2  teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-3  cups of large whole strawberries  (or enough to fill the pie plate)

Directions:

Prepare the Danish Desert according to the package directions, using only 1 1/2 cups of water.  Let it cool while you whip  1 cup of whipping cream.  Then blend together the creamed cheese with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and the 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.  Fold the creamed cheese mixture into the whipped cream until smooth.  Pour into the pie plate and smooth evenly.   Put the whole (washed and stemmed) strawberries on top of the cream cheese and whipped cream mixture.   Pour and smooth the cooked Danish Desert over the strawberries making sure that they are all covered.  Chill for at least 4 hours.
